Experience the Mariscador lifestyle
You probably already read about the “Menchos” in a previous article. Returning to that story, those men who werent so skilled at rural tasks, didn’t want to depend on a ranch owner, became “Mariscadores”. They led a independent life as hunters, fishing and keeping the Guarani language and customs overall. They knew the ways through the wetlands, and they made their way on their canoes (“mariscadora”) with their pole, and as good hunters they understood the behavior of the animals in the area.
We will take you on a 4×4 vehicle from to travel 24 km to Puerto “Juli Cué”, where we board a canoe to navigate the paths of the Carambola Spot. In order for you to live the complete adventure, we will follow the same path that years ago the “mariscadores” used.
The first part will be in a canoe pushed with a pole and the second one will be cinched by horses, just as it was done by the locals. Following the river´s flow we can assess the calm of the marsh and the incredible nature. The path reaches the refuge that is in the heart of the Carambola Place. There we will have local meals for lunch.
As for the way back, a boat canoe awaits us. We will follow the route of the “mariscadores”, and then we will pass to a motor boat. Being on the boat navigating the Carambola stream, we will contemplate the magic of the Iberá wildlife with its animals and the landscapes.
A excellent opportunity for those with a tele-lens on their camera to capture the essence of the wetlands. The only requirement for this full day activity are comfortable clothes, sun-cream and adventurous spirit.
