Hike to Achen Ñiyeu
The Achen Ñiyeu Volcano is located in the heart of the Lanin National Park about 65 km from the city of San Martin de los Andes on Route 62. The hike starts from the campsite of the Laguna Verde and crosses a moist forest of Coihues, Raulis and Lengas. As we go deeper into the area the landscape is transformed, the forest begins to disappear to culminate in a volcanic and desert valley with waterfalls and a panoramic view of the south face of the Lanín Volcano. The ascent of the volcano passes by a path of rocks and sand and ends in the crater of the volcano where we can see views of the volcano Huanquihue, Lanin, Epulafquen and Carilafquen Lake, Auquinco valley and Lake Lolog.
After the hike you will have time to relax in the parks natural thermal hot springs. Don’t forget to pack your bathing suit!
