Horseback riding
Horseback riding is a big deal in Argentina and Corrientes province is not the exception. The “Mencho” is Corrientes gaucho, the first Mencho worked at the Jesuit missions. A valued worker due to their loyalty to the employer, their special knowledge of Nature and skill in rural tasks. There even a special museum dedicated to the rural life.
Take a two hour ride to visit the surroundings of the town. The path covers the FieldĀ“s Museum and you will also see CorrientesĀ“s real rural life with its farms and stalls. Along the circuit you will see a large number of birds and you will be able to appreciate the customs and life of the place. During the tour, indigenous stories will be narrated to learn more about Corrientes identity.
Or soak yourself up argentinian history by going to a farm on the edge of the road that the General Manuel Belgrano (creator of the Argentinian flag) traveled in 1810 in his expedition to Paraguay (see Tacuari drummer boy) in Argentina’s independence process. There, a local cook will invite you to taste their ancient recipes with unique flavors.
