The Wine Country & the Andes
The province of Mendoza, located in the foothills of the Andes Mountains, is Argentina’s largest wine producing region. In the early 1900’s both Spanish and Italian immigrants introduced their traditional wine making skills to the area. Wine quality increased over time and in the last twenty years Mendoza produced wines have garnered international recognition and respect.
Clearly Malbec is the signature grape, however, high quality Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and Bonarda are also crafted. In addition, the areas famous winemakers have also developed their own unique creations that have elevated the areas wines to the next level. Over the last decade new wineries have been constructed that feature high quality wine, stunning architecture and some of Argentina’s finest restaurants.
With a location close to the Andes Mountains, the highest mountains in the Americas, you will also find a variety of outdoor activities. The areas natural wonders and beauty are a fantastic location to experience sightseeing, horseback riding, hiking and bicycling.
