Northeast Argentinian Culture

Northeast Argentinian Culture

Argentina is a vast territory easily divided into regions that not necessarily fit into the actual provinces, and each with its own culture and belief that evolve and shape day by day.

Corrientes province is set on the north-east argentina territory and together with Formosa and Misiones provinces, the southern part of Brazil and most of Paraguay are part of the Guarani natives territory that still live in the area.

Guarani language is still frequent in the region. Most of the Flora and Fauna of the region is based on guarani language, words such as, Yaguarete (Yaguar), Aguaribay (Schinus areira, Tree) chaja (Bird, easy to spot especially in the wetlands), ñandu (bird similar but smaller than a ostrich) , yarara (kind of snake), and so on… a fun fact, the famous Mate (like tea infusion famous in the region) is a big part of the guarani culture.

Concepción del Yaguareté Corá town is our gate to the Ibera Wetlands and home of La Alondra Lodge and it was recently declared National Historic town. Parts of the town seem to be stopped in time, many of the old houses still conserve a small chapel, as it was custom two hundred years ago. In this small town, is where the culture of the country man (paisano) and nature become one. To dig in this culture, we take you on a tour to the museums, hand in hand with the Cultural Guides.

    You will be visiting:

  • Historic Museum
  • La Pilarcita – Children’s Thematic Museum
  • Corrientes’s Field and Rural Life Museum.

This tour will allow you to discover the roots of Concepción del Yaguareté Corá town, its culture and traditions through emblematic and historical sites, such as its chapels and handcraft ateliers. In addition to it you can also taste ancestral Guaraní recipes.

Let the history be part of your trip!
